Week 14 - Zeus and Kuma

Just after I wrapped up a group of three sisters, my pups wanted to get their portrait taken. So, here's Zeus and Kuma in the studio, though they didn't want to get on the bench, they opted to sit in front of it.

Week 13 - Mike and Jess

Mike and Jessica are getting married! I've known Jessica for years, she's one of my daughters very best friends, so I just had to do some engagement images for them! Of course, the weather was terrible so we ended up playing in the studio for the images instead. This one I caught them playing around.

Week 12 - Dangerous Curves

Here's an image that I had perceived in my mind long before I ever set this shoot up. The idea of highlighting just the models curves with a rim of light and leaving everything else in shadow just appealed to me.

Week 11 - Flower Child

The amazing Lisa Roche did a lovely job converting Jade into a wood nymph with a long red wig and the berries in her hair. Here's a sample of Lisa's amazing work!

Week 10 - Jade revisited

This weekend, I had the pleasure of shooting Jade again. This time, the incredible Lisa Roche worked her magic on the styling and turned Jade into Jade Godiva.

Week 9 - Body Abstract

A small section of the lovely Jade. The female body's curves can be very sensual and I lit this in a way to accentuate the curves and shape of Jade's body.

Week 8 - Jade

A guitar reminds me of a woman's body, so I had the idea of shooting a nude with the guitar body covering the models body, mimicking her shape. This is the result.

Week 7 - Jenn and Tony, a maternity shoot

Jenn is a lovely model I've had the pleasure of working with a few times. She really is one of my favorite people to work with cause she's got a great attitude, works hard and is fearless! So, when she asked me if I'd shoot her maternity session, I very happily said I would. So, we did a few solo shots of her, then brought her husband in for a few. This is one of the moments I captures that I just love. Thanks for letting me capture your moment Jenn!

Week 6 - Flower Abstract

Shot this Lilly petal with just the modeling lamp on one of my studio flash units, in a beauty dish. Taken with a 50mm f1.4, wide open with 31mm of extension tube. All that technical mumbo jumbo means I got REALLY close to the edge of the flower and just got the very edge in focus. I always did like abstract images like this.

Week 5 - Amber

Setting up today to do an engagement shoot for some friends, I had my daughter stand in for a test shoot. Shot with natural light with an open windows camera left about 3 feet from Amber, and a white wall behind me to add a little fill. The background is a little fabric taped to the wall with gaffer's tape.

Week 4 - A Bottle of Red

A bottle and glass of red wine on blue satin. This is lit with 2 lights, one a softbox camera left and a strip box camera right.

Week 3 - Tori

Aspiring actress Tori came to me for some headshots, and while we were at it, why waste a good make up artist so we did some other shooting as well.

Week 2 - Winter Flowers

Another outdoor photograph this week. While walking in the woods, we came across this little stalk growing out through the snow. Shot wide open at f1.4 to keep focus on the blooms in the middle.

Week 1 - Zeus and Kuma at Play

New Years Day, Robyn and I went for a walk in the woods, behind the apple orchard near our house, Sholan Farms. There are tons of trails through the woods back there and the dogs just love it. Here, Zeus has a bead on Kuma as he leaps over a log.

Redefining this site!

I realized not quite halfway into my 365 project that it was just too much of a time commitment for me to do properly. I didn't feel right posting last minute snaps just to "complete" my task for the day so I ended up giving up on the project.

I'm picking it up again this year, but I'm redefining it to be "Project 52". That is, 1 image a week, shot that week. The next entry will be entry #1 for 2010.
