Travelling

No images for the next 5 or so days. I'll be travelling and shooting, but won't have net access to post until I get back next week. I'll post all my daily images when I return!

Day 10 - Robyn's Brushes

My wife is an artist and is quite talented. She quilts and paints and does a fantastic job with both. I just happen to think her brushes looked cool.

Day 9 - Love and Lust

With Valentine's Day coming up fast and even though its cliche at this point, I wanted to do the ring/heart thing. I found my wife's favorite author (Christine Feehan) and found a fitting passage.

Day 8 - Self Portrait

I need a new self portrait for my online profiles. Here's a 4 light setup messing around in the studio with classic portraiture.

Day 7 - Quilt

My wife is an avid quilter and spends quite a bit of time working on the fine detail of her quilts. Today's image is a wall hanging she recently finished. Lit with an AB1600 with just a 7" reflector camera left. I wanted fairly even light but with a hit of direction to it to try and make the quilting show, without losing the detail of the fabric.

Day 6 - The Lovely Caitlin

Today's entry comes from a portfolio shoot I was asked to do for the model and MUA. The amazing Janeen Jones did the makeup and the lovely Caitlin was the canvas. Both are just a treat to work with.

Day 5 - My Watch

Playing with lighting for product photography. I know I need to clean the black better and be more careful of dust, but this was more of an exercise in the lighting and not the cleaning. :)

Day 4 - Blaze Orange 800

Got my shipment from Alien Bee today, a 1600, an 800 along with a beauty dish and a vagabond battery pack. I've almost got a full working studio now! My inspiration for today is the blaze orange AB800 that's currently being offered in a limited edition (at the same price as the original).

Day 3 - Dart Night

Tuesday night is dart league night, so yesterdays 365 shot is dart inspired. (Shot for yesterday, just getting to the post today...) I shot this intending it to be B&W but I couldn't find a mix I liked because the tones in the greens and reds were too close.

Day 2 - Self Portrait

I need a new self portrait for my various profiles, so today's post is one of the outtakes. The main light is a 4 foot soft box camera right, on an AB1600. I purposely included the sides of the backdrop and the floor, just to see how it would look. The image I chose for my 365 is my pretending I'm conjuring up a ball of light (a vivitar 285HV).

Day 1 - The Studio (x4)

Today, I finally finished the major renovations on my studio. The process of cleanup and prep took alot longer than expected, but now that the new floor is in (laminate oak) and its ready to use! So, in honor of this being the official start of my 365 project, I'm posting a couple images of the studio.

Introduction

This is home to my photo-a-day project, commonly referred to as a 365 project. This project is here to help me stretch my photographic muscles and to keep my trying new things. Some will work, some won't, but along the way two things are for sure; 1) It'll be alot of fun and 2) I'll learn something along the way!
