Day 124 - Petunia

Potted petunia hanging in front of my house. Shot wide open at f2.8 on an overcast day.

Day 123 - Shrub Flower

In front my house, we have this shryb with these blooms that I think are a type of Azalea, but I'm honestly not sure. Shot on an overcast day, wide open at f2.8.

Day 121 - Go ahead, make her day

Caitlin is really a sweet girl, but she plays a bad ass well. She's carrying a Glock 9mm in one hand and a Smith and Wesson 9mm in the other. Beauty dish as the key light, directly over the camera, large soft box camera left for fill, strip boxes both right and left of camera but behind Caitlin for rim light.

Day 120 - Samurai Jenn

Studio session with Jenn today. Shot with a beauty dish directly over the camera on a boom and a large soft box camera left and low, angled upwards for fill. Also, a strip box camera right and behind Jenn. Purposely didn't light the backdrop, letting the main and fill lights splash on it.

Day 119 - Garden Frog

Spent a fair amount of time this weekend getting the front yard and flower gardens straightened out. The garden frogs help keep the hose from being dragged through the flower beds. Shot wide open under a sunny sky.

Day 118 - Azalea

The Azaleas along my front porch are in full bloom. Here I isolated a single bloom by shooting wide open while the shrub was still in open shade from the house.

Day 117 - Greer early maternity

Large softbox camera left for a key light and letting the spill light the background at the same time, fill light camera right in a shoot through umbrella, another light on a boom overhead for a hair light.

Day 116 - Swinging Jessica

This was lit with the sun as a hair/rim light behind Jessica and camera left. I used a small flash in a silver umbrella camera left for fill to even out the exposure with a fairly fast shutter speed to stop the motion and catch her hair.

Day 115 - Jo Jo

In the studio, lit with a large shoot through umbrella camera left as a key light, another stop bounced off a white wall behind and right for fill. One more light above and back for a hair light for 3 total lights.

Day 114 - Simply Sabina

Sabina was standing in a doorway at mid afternoon, in the shade of the doorway. Shot with available light and a parking lot providing just a hint of fill. The brighter exposure outside let the inside of the building go entirely dark, as if shot on black seamless.

Day 113 - Reeds

At sunrise, reeds poking through a peaceful lake, shot with a polarizer to even out any reflections that were on the water.

Day 112 - Farmer Kristin

Kristin shot under an overcast sky with natural light only.

Day 111 - Sunshine Acres

Had a shoot today with the lovely Sunshine, one of my favorite models to work with. We worked mostly outdoors, on my friend's horse farm and here she is with an old Farmall tractor. Shot under an overcast sky, wide open at f1.4 with my nifty fifty.

Day 110 - Maya

This wasn't shot today, but I was going back through some shoots from last summer and came across this image that I never processed. Just processed this today. Shot at mid day, Maya was under tree cover and I used a vivitar 285 with a Lumiquest better bounce for fill, fired with pocket wizards.

Day 109 - Fresh Air

The simple pine tree air freshener isn't good enough for me, I have to have the tropical palm tree in my truck.

Day 108 - Old Chevy

Detail of an old Chevy fender. I liked the graphic quality and the color of this image. Shot under an overcast sky.

Day 107 - Dandelion

They may be weeds, but the wispy dandelions can be very cool. This is my front lawn, shot under an overcast sky, wide open.

Day 106 - Lilacs

The lilac bushes along our property line are in full bloom right now and they smell terrific. Shot wide open under an overcast sky.

Day 105 - Golden Backlight

I know the highlights are blown out, but I still like this portrait of Kuma. This was shot in our front yard with the sun behind and camera right with no fill.

Day 104 - Edelbrock

Today was Leominster's annual apple blossom festival at the orchard near my house. As part of the festival, there is always a car show with antique, unusual and muscle cars on display and I always enjoy taking pictures of the cars with unusual viewpoints. This is under the hood of a souped up 1937 Buick.

Day 103 - Shakers

Having dogs, of course we have golden retriever salt and pepper shakers. I don't think either of these have ever had anything in them, but they're in our kitchen and very cute. Shot with tungsten lights directly above, and above and to the right at f2.8.

Day 102 - Magnolia Bud

The Magnolia tree in our yard is finally starting to bloom. On my way out the door to work this morning, I stopped at the top of our driveway to take a few pictures of some of the buds. The blooms, when fully opened, are beautiful. Shot at about f4 to carry the DOF across enough of the bud, but still keep the background nice and soft.

Day 101 - Prayer

My photography club, Boston West Photographic Society, holds its meetings in a function hall at a religious retreat called The Marist House in Framingham, MA. The grounds of the house are gorgeous and full of really interesting nooks and crannys. I found this statue of a praying girl at an outdoor altar. Shot on a rainy day with a rain cover over my camera and a rain coat over my head. :)

Day 100 - Property Line

A dreary, rainy day but I took a quick walk about my yard tonight looking for something to shoot. In one of the corners, I found this marker right on the corner of our lot. Overcast sky shot wide open.

Day 99 - Flowers

More flowers today. I was walking around my front yard and thought these tiny little flowers looked pretty cool. Shot available light, ISO 100 at F4.

Day 98 - Tulip

I'm back at it after skipping a weeks worth of imagery. Today's image is a lone tulip that came up in our front yard, in from of the porch. Shot at f1.4 and ISO400 as the sun had already gone down behind the mountains.

Days 91-97 No images...

Didn't shoot anything the entire week. Between being busy, and medical appointments with my elbow, I just didn't make the time to do any shooting. Starting this back up as of today with a new blog post shortly.

For those of you that have been following, I'll be back!
