Day 180 - Zadie, in lace

This is an older photo I revisited today and reprocessed to give it a little of an antique feel.

Day 93 - What's That?

My dog Zeus hates to have his photo taken. In order to do that, I have to bribe him. Here I'm saying "Wanna go for a walk?" and I don't think he quite believes me. ;)

Day 78 - Whole Lotta Ellen

This was shot through a set of glass beads that are meant for flower arranging. I placed the jar of beads on a plexiglass sheet suspended between two stools. I then placed a print I have up on the wall of the studio of Ellen on the floor below.

Day 69 - Dark Field

Experimenting with dark field lighting, where you don't directly light the glass item, but let the light wrap around a dark background and just kiss the edges. This defines the edges of a glass item by putting bright reflections just around the edges.

Day 66 - Amber's Extensions

My daughter just got a set of extensions, so I thought this would be a good excuse to make her sit down for a photo.

Day 57 - Self Portrait

Playing with high contrast lighting, I purposely let my stubble grow out to see what direct, harsh lighting would look like. I like the look.

Day 6 - Deadly Women

This is actually an older image that I went back and played with again. I recropped it tighter and gave it a grungier feel and I liked the new edit.

Week 14 - Zeus and Kuma

Just after I wrapped up a group of three sisters, my pups wanted to get their portrait taken. So, here's Zeus and Kuma in the studio, though they didn't want to get on the bench, they opted to sit in front of it.

Week 11 - Flower Child

The amazing Lisa Roche did a lovely job converting Jade into a wood nymph with a long red wig and the berries in her hair. Here's a sample of Lisa's amazing work!

Week 5 - Amber

Setting up today to do an engagement shoot for some friends, I had my daughter stand in for a test shoot. Shot with natural light with an open windows camera left about 3 feet from Amber, and a white wall behind me to add a little fill. The background is a little fabric taped to the wall with gaffer's tape.

Week 3 - Tori

Aspiring actress Tori came to me for some headshots, and while we were at it, why waste a good make up artist so we did some other shooting as well.

Day 187 - Calendar Page

I volunteered to do some photography for a fundraiser calendar of implied nude male and female models. This is an image shot in the studio with a key light in an octo box camera right and up a little, a soft box camera left providing fill and 3 lights giving the background an even sweep on the white seamless paper.

Day 120 - Samurai Jenn

Studio session with Jenn today. Shot with a beauty dish directly over the camera on a boom and a large soft box camera left and low, angled upwards for fill. Also, a strip box camera right and behind Jenn. Purposely didn't light the backdrop, letting the main and fill lights splash on it.

Day 115 - Jo Jo

In the studio, lit with a large shoot through umbrella camera left as a key light, another stop bounced off a white wall behind and right for fill. One more light above and back for a hair light for 3 total lights.

Day 19 - Robyn's Guitar

My wife has this 20+ year old guitar that she never plays anymore. I dug it out of the attic and it was just begging me to photograph it. I wanted to shoot it in natural light near the window, but it was evening so I took out a large softbox and used that to mimic the window light.

Day 1 - The Studio (x4)

Today, I finally finished the major renovations on my studio. The process of cleanup and prep took alot longer than expected, but now that the new floor is in (laminate oak) and its ready to use! So, in honor of this being the official start of my 365 project, I'm posting a couple images of the studio.
